SUMMARY:What is Self-Harm? How to Recognize It\, and How and When to Get Help
DESCRIPTION:What is Self-Harm?: How to Recognize It\, and How and When to Get Help\n\n\nLocation: Harborcreek Township — 5601 Buffalo Rd.\, Harborcreek\, PA 16421\nDate/Time: Wednesday\, May 8 at 6:00 p.m.\nAdmission: FREE\nSpeaker: Mark Strazisar\, D.O.\nParking: lot in the back of building\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNon-Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI)\, also known as self-harm\, is the deliberate\, self-inflicted destruction of body tissue resulting in immediate damage. Examples of NSSI include cutting of the skin\, subdermal tissue scratching\, banging or punching objects or oneself\, and burning oneself. NSSI is very common\, but also commonly misunderstood – it can be confusing and frightening\, and Dr. Strazisar explores the topic and what to do when you or someone in your life is engaging in NSSI. \n\nMark Strazisar\, D.O.\, is board certified in psychiatry. He received his medical degree and Master of Science in Medical Education from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) and completed his residency at Millcreek Community Hospital (MCH). He is an adjunct clinical instructor of Psychiatry at LECOM and a clinical attending physician at MCH. Dr. Strazisar specializes and is certified in Electroconvulsive Therapy and offers medication management to adults needing psychiatric assistance. \n\nPreregistration is available on the Jefferson Society website.
